Plaid Scarves

Every season has new trends.  This fall/winter plaid has been a huge trend.  I have a few flannels and plaid items, but once I discovered a plaid scarf I was hooked!  I now own 3 plaid scarves and keep finding more!  My favorite one is from Forever 21, it is a blanket scarf style (basically it is huge!) I also picked up a plaid infinity scarf at Charlotte Russe.  Everyday I go on Pinterest I find more! These scarves are a great way to add pattern to a simple outfit.  I know I love wearing all black, especially in the fall/winter, tossing on a plaid scarf is an easy way to switch up your outfit.

This one from Target is currently on my list, unfortunately it is sold out, but I absolutely love the style!

I am currently considering purchasing this one.

These are just a couple of the ones I have looked at recently, but there are so many more out there!
This is definitely a fall/winter trend you do not want to miss out on!

Trend Alert: Envelope Skirts

Origami skort, asymmetrical hemlines, envelope skirts, or whatever you want to call them are a huge trend for summer.  I finally found one for myself (from Francesca's) and I am in love with it!  I am not a huge "short shorts" person, which can be annoying in the hot summer months.  Despite the short length of most envelope skirts, mine included, they are different than the typical tight, short shorts.  The asymmetrical hemline helps cover a little more, and helps elongate the legs.  Also the material is looser.  Envelope skirts can be paired with many tops, creating dressy and casual outfits.  Below I will add some examples of what to pair yours with!  Make sure you at least try one of these on this summer, you will love it!

Above are three options, ranging from super casual to almost business casual.  The options are endless.  I hope you enjoyed this article!  Comment below and tell me what you think about envelope skirts!  Thanks for reading!

Love.

"Marry your best friend. I do not say that lightly. Really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with. Someone who speaks highly of you. Someone you can laugh with. The kind of laughs that make your belly ache, and your nose snort. The embarrassing, earnest, healing kind of laughs. Wit is important. Life is too short not to love someone who lets you be a fool with them. Make sure they are somebody who lets you cry, too. Despair will come. Find someone that you want to be there with you through those times. Most importantly, marry the one that makes passion, love, and madness combine and course through you. A love that will never dilute - even when the waters get deep, and dark."

Transition into Spring

As some of you may know I pretty much wear one main color: black.  Lately this has been bothering me some.  I have tried to have days where I wear absolutely no black, it is terrible!  I have gotten to a point where I feel uncomfortable without any black on.  This is a slight issue with spring coming up.  I have decided that instead of cutting out black "cold turkey," it would be better to try to use black as the less prominent color.  That way I can still wear it and not spend an hour trying to find an outfit without black.  Below is a perfect example of this, the outfit is more classy and glamorous than my usual style, and it puts the emphasis on the white aspect.

Some of these items are a little pricey, but the skirt is only $15, and that is the statement piece.  Other items can easily be found for less elsewhere.  I will definitely be purchasing this skirt, hopefully this weekend.  I will post some styling options for that piece!

Here Are The Top 37 Things Dying People Say They Regret. Learn From It Before It’s Too Late.

This article really puts things into perspective.  We all go through life being so busy and caught up in the moment.  But when people are on their death beds they really look back and think about what they should have done differently.  We shouldn't wait until it is too late to think about ways to enjoy life.  I am completely guilty of many of these:

  • Staying at a job I dislike because it is a paycheck, and I need to pay bills.  You need to change your situation, you are the only one with that power.
  • Bad relationships.  We have all had one, not necessarily everyone's was a romantic relationship, but none the less, it needs to end.  Once a bad relationship reaches a certain point, and it is clear it will not be fixed, the best thing to do is get rid of it.  This is one area that I am terrible with.  But when you think about it this way, it is better to be lonely then miserable.  In the case of a romantic relationship, if you do not get rid of the negative relationship, there will never be room for the right relationship to develop.
  • Going to see your favorite musician.  This is one that I just accomplished.  I finally allowed myself to splurge and buy Miley Cyrus tickets for the concert that is in one week.  I have known about if for months... last night I finally realized I would most likely regret it if I missed the concert.  You never know when the opportunity will present itself again.  Its not a life altering event, but it is something you will enjoy and should not pass up.
  • Spending your youth being self-absorbed.  So many people in society today are self-absorbed.  I am definitely guilty of this as well.  There are different levels, and we should all try to minimize this.
  • Holding grudges, especially with those you love.  Everyone gets into arguments and disagreements, but some people take these too far.  You should try to resolve issues instead of holding onto them.  Holding onto them hurts both parties, and takes too much energy to make yourself unhappy.
  • Working too much.  This one I am definitely guilty of.  Lately I have been working 60 hours a week between two jobs, with being a full-time senior in college.  It makes me feel good to be able to tell people how much I work, and sometimes I enjoy being able to complain about it.  That may sound odd, I think it does, but it somehow makes me feel good about myself.  I have recently put in my two weeks at one of these jobs, this will free up 20 hours a week.  I may pick up another shift or two at my other job, but this solves two of these issues: working too much and leaving a job you dislike.  I want to enjoy life.  I am only 21, I don't want to spend my youth constantly working.  I want to spend time with family and friends, my puppy, and allow for "me time."  These are all very important to remaining happy.
  • Learning how to cook.  I feel this is something every young person who has ventured into the real world has to develop overtime.  I want to work on this and learn to enjoy cooking meals for myself.
There are many more important aspects to this, these are just a few that stuck out to me.  Let me know which you find the most important or surprising to you in the comments below.

Daily Look

I have known about the Daily Look website for awhile now.  While I have almost made purchases multiple times, I just made my first purchase today.  If you do not know much about Daily Look, they create outfits everyday and for a couple days discount the items in those outfits.  If you really like the look, you can buy the whole thing, or you can simply buy pieces from different outfits.  The website also allows you to earn Look Points.  These points can be earned in a variety of ways, I earned most of mine by simply clicking on their email everyday and just looking at that days new look.  By doing this I earned 2000 points (10 per day).  Once you earn 2000 points, you receive a $20 credit.  I have had that credit for awhile, and just the other day I came across a pair of booties that are similar to something I have been on the hunt for.
Metallic Cutout Ankle Boots
$49.98

I have been seeing booties similar to these (Metallic Cutout Ankle Boots) all over this fall, and I have not been able to find a pair.  I just happened to open a Daily Look email and see these at the bottom and I fell in love.  These cutout booties are cute, and can be dressed up or dressed down depending on the outfit.  I think they give an outfit a sophisticated look, and are not over the top at all.

The website offers free shipping at $75, I personally hate paying for shipping, so I decided to look around a little bit and came across this pair of combat boots (Stud and Zipper Embellished Combat Boots).  I have been looking for a new pair of combat boots, I really like these because they put a twist on the average combat boot, they are a little more edgy.
At the price they are a very good deal.  I often buy shoes from JustFab, and I love those shoes, and they are a good deal at $39.95, so when I saw these were even less than that I was surprised at how great of a deal they are.  My purchase was about $85 which qualified me for free shipping and saved that $5.95.  Since I had saved up those Look Points I was also able to use my $20 credit, in the end I spent right around $65 for two great pairs of boots, and I do not think you can beat that.  I will definitely do a review once I receive these boots in the mail.
